Recipe Round-Up

A yummy Valentine’s round-up

My second round-up in 2 weeks? I admit I haven’t been cooking up a storm lately, but the good news is I’m actually getting an opportunity to bring back some of my old favourites from the archives that fit the occasion at hand some way or another.

If you, like myself, are a fan of giving homemade gifts to loved ones during whatever occasion (and frankly even when there is no occasion at all), then here is a last minute Valentine’s bake-ables list that can help you do just that!

1. First up we have this year’s Valentine’s recipe the Sweet Heart Cupcakes— a moist chocolate cupcake touched by pretty-in-pink cherry frosting. The heart decoration on top amps up the cute and romance factor, don’t you think?

2. Here’s something I myself enjoy receiving at a time like this. I was ecstatic to learn how easy it was to make my own truffles since they’re always so expensive bought from a store. Anybody can whip up a batch of these Honey Dark Chocolate Truffles and look mighty impressive in the process.

3. For the more experienced in the kitchen, express your love through these dainty little Chocolate Macarons. Pack them inside a pretty box and tie a ribbon on top and you’re all set!

4. Don’t want to make any regular old macarons again? How about a Chocolate Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich for a change! It’s the perfect classy dessert to cap off a homemade candlelit dinner.

5. There are Valentine’s treats to please the ladies, and then there are Valentine’s treats that both guys and gals can actually enjoy, and I have a feeling this is one of them. The compromise is that these Baked Doughnuts with Strawberry Jam Filling are not as indulgent as the regular fried ones from the store- good news for those who are watching their weight- but they’re good in their own right! Remember to fill them with you and your partner’s favourite brand of jam! 🙂

6. Thinking of making something extra special for your guy this happy hearts day? Well nothing spells out romance for dudes like bacon can. Okay, I totally made that up, but heck why not? The bacon bits on top of these Bacon Maple Cinnamon Rolls look pretty close to pink hearts sprinkles. Use your imagination!

7. For something funky and different, try making these Cookie Dough Truffles and win over not only the guy/girl of your dreams but their families too! This is a surefire crowd-pleaser among all ages. A great way to make an impression this Valentine’s Day, if you ask me!

8. Something about these Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies makes me relate them to Valentine’s. Perhaps it’s the honest way they look and the sweet way they taste!

9. And while we are on the subject of cookies, why not try these Red Velvet Crinkles? These cookies are bright red and beautiful, and quite possibly something that can speak the words ‘I love you’ on its own.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 🙂
