These Chocolate Chip Army Cookies will grab your atten-tion!

First off I just want to say I adore the brand concept of these cookies. It lends itself to such clever names for each cookie flavour, as you will see in a little bit. Chocolate Chip Army Cookies take pride in their handcrafted cookie line that promises to deliver an explosion of flavours and textures in the mouth. According to their site, their mission is to create “bold tasting, highly addictive cookies that are fearless in character” using only the finest ingredients.

I really love this play on military terms even in the way they describe their cookies on their site, but it’s the names of the cookies themselves that are a lot of fun! I like how they seem to fit each cookie to a T while still having that military/soldier-related element to them.

But the important bit: Do these cookies deliver as promised? I was sent four cookies out of their line-up and I highly enjoyed three of them while the other one was a miss for me, but the ones I did enjoy were big on flavour and definitely gave me the punch stated on the package. And did I mention they’re as big as a palm? I’ve listed the cookies from my least to most favourite in the review below.

Old Timer (Classic Choco Chip Cookies)

Here’s the thing: People have very different tastes when it comes to choco chip cookies. I’m one of those picky types especially since I’m a baker and I’ve found my “holy grail”, so to speak. And this is definitely not the type of choco chip cookie I am a fan of.

This one tastes mostly of vanilla and chocolate as opposed the caramely-chocolatey type I prefer, plus it’s a little too soft and too cakey for me. I like when a cookie is crunchy all around the sides but chewy in the middle, but hey, that’s just my preference! You might be on the camp that likes this kind of choco chip cookie.

Freedom (Ice Cream Sundae Cookies)

This cookie has M&M’s, white chocolate chips, and bits of waffle cones inside, which is why it’s also referred to as an Ice Cream Sundae Cookie. It’s like an upgraded version of the classic cookie above but with a texture that’s more like the one I prefer. Very clearly we get a generous amount of add-ons here.

I think the presence of colourful M&M’s will make this cookie a hit for the kids especially. Even with all the candies, I didn’t find these cookies too sweet. It’s also not too chocolatey as well and actually kind of reminds me of a blondie in a way.

Morphine (Cornflake and Marshmallow Choco Chip Cookie)

I like that there’s a little note on the corner there that says, “Having a bad day? This will take the pain away.” This cookie is a little too sweet for me if I eat more than half in one sitting, but it definitely delivers all the goods it says it will on its packaging. I get the perfect combination of chewy and gooey thanks to marshmallows, but at the same time there’s a surprise crunch within thanks to the cornflakes.

This one leans more towards the chewy cookie I really love, but since my tastebuds are sensitive to sweets I can only enjoy this in small portions. However I do like the contrasting textures this brings in the mouth. I recommend this, especially if you have a sweet tooth!

Code Red (Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip)

And now we come to my favourite in this set. I’m not a red velvet fiend or anything so I’m saying this without bias, but to me this cookie is the one with the most balance. It is just perfectly sweet, with a lovely soft texture and a moist heart. It’s not as moist as a chocolate crinkle but I would say it’s a little more on the soft rather than chewy side. It’s actually really nice to bite into. 🙂

To be honest, it was hard for me to choose between Code Red and Morphine because I liked them both a lot, but Morphine was a little too sweet for me so Code Red won just by a little bit! Barely actually. It took me a long time to finally open that last packet of Code Red cookie because I kind of didn’t want it to disappear from my life. (For the time being anyway.)

But the good news is, Chocolate Chip Army Cookies offer online ordering, nationwide shipping/hand delivery, and event catering, so there’s plenty of ways to get yet another cookie fix! These cookies are available for P595/dozen, and it’s your choice whether you want to order purely one flavour or an assorted bunch. Of course, if I were you, I’d go for assorted so you can taste them all! 🙂
