RCC Sandwiches COVER Revised - Cheesy Gochujang Pork Sandwiches that will knock your socks off (feat. Real California Cheese)

I can’t imagine a household without some form of cheese or dairy in the fridge. I mean, they’re such a staple we barely pay much mind to them when we put them in our shopping carts. But the truth of the matter is that not all dairy products are created equal. When we’re at the supermarket, it’s important to be mindful of the quality of the products we buy because of course these things are what we put into our bodies, our family’s bodies. I think we have the license to be picky.

A little taste of the South with these Texas-Style BBQ Cheeseburgers

Texas BBQ Cheeseburgers 1 - A little taste of the South with these Texas-Style BBQ Cheeseburgers

Writing about the food spots in my San Francisco throwback has reminded me of a couple of my USA-related foodie dreams: first, going on a food trip in New Orleans; and then there’s getting a taste of authentic Texas BBQ. It’s really hard to fit a trip to America without having to go on an extended leave of absence from adult life (lol) so these two things pretty much remain dreams for now.

The problem is, every time I surf the net and see things connected to these two things, my appetite comes alive. That’s basically what happened to me when I came across these Texas-Style BBQ Cheeseburgers. Naturally, I got into the mood of making them.

It’s amazing how open-minded people are nowadays. This “evolution” is one of the things I credit for the influx of all these delightful brands and food products from overseas. Being exposed to curious things abroad through the web, people are now more willing to try new things.

20 years ago, before the Internet became a normal part of everyone’s households, most people outside Vietnam probably didn’t even know what a banh mi was. Well it’s now all the rage not just here but also in the States. (I had some really amazing ones in NYC.) I’m super happy to be sitting here writing about what a pleasure devouring this Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi was without having people raise eyebrows at me, asking what on earth I’m talking about haha!

My mother is on a grand holiday at the moment, and all her pictures are giving me a fit of wanderlust. I get this feeling quite often, but today it’s especially bothersome. I’m not just seized by a desire to travel, but to travel back to places I’m missing.

In particular, I’ve been missing walking the streets of New York. Like that’s any surprise right? There’s no shortage of things to see in that city, and no shortage of things to eat either! Even stepping down from the steps of The Met, after a long day of filling your eyes with art, you can sit down and enjoy a pretzel or a hotdog.
