Attempting to make Nagasaki Champon at home
Out of curiosity, I tried to replicate Nagasaki’s specialty noodle dish champon right at home! It’s not as hard as I thought it would be.

My favourite Sesame Soba topped with sweet-spicy salmon
When it comes to food, there are few things I love more than Asian noodles. It doesn’t matter which country in Asia it’s from or whether there’s soup or not– if it’s a noodle dish I’ll eat it. (For pasta I’m a little pickier since I don’t generally eat white sauce, but I also adore pasta.) The amount of noodle dishes in Asia can be pretty mind-blowing. Most of the time the choice of going for noodles with or without soup comes down to my mood or my tummy. When I’m especially hungry or feeling like I want some comfort food, that’s when I go for ramen or wonton noodle…

Two ways to go crazy for Jjajangmyeon 짜장면
There are two things I picked up from the past few years of watching Korean dramas: an unexpected attachment to the language, and a constant craving for jjajangmyeon. Jjajangmyeon (짜장면) is a popular Chinese-Korean noodle dish with a thick stir-fried black bean sauce on top. ‘Jjajang’ literally means fried sauce in Korean, with ‘myeon’ meaning noodles. Typically the sauce is loaded with potatoes, zucchini, carrots, a bit of pork, and lots of onions. The black bean sauce is salty, but the Korean style of cooking this noodle dish requires a bit of sugar for some slight caramel notes. It creates a nice contrast in flavours.

A Prima Taste Instant Noodles Review
As someone who likes to make things from scratch, it’s very rare that you would find box mixes and instant noodles in my pantry. But after being gifted with a sizeable bag filled with all sorts of meal mixes and instant noodles from one of Golden Acres’ brands called Prima Taste Singapore, I learned that it’s actually nice to have an option for shortcut dishes for those days when you want to spend a little less time in the kitchen. It’s even better for days when you have a sudden inexplicable burst of craving for things like laksa, which takes a lot longer than a pack of instant noodles by…

This 20-Minute Spicy Peanut and Chicken Soba is the bomb
It’s a bit strange that I don’t make enough simple meals here on the blog. In fact I was quite surprised myself when I made this noodle dish. I managed to finish cooking it in less than 20 minutes, including prep time. At the end I literally went, ‘Wait a minute. That’s it?’ I guess I’m just too used to baking and dessert recipes– you know, those that always take at least 30 minutes especially if they have several components. There are the cakes that need time to bake up then cool before they can be meticulously frosted. There are the yeasted bread recipes I so love to make, usually…
