We are past the midpoint of the first month of 2015 before I even realise I haven’t written any sort of blog resolution yet. Whoops. I always like to write these things down because it gives me kind of a vision for what I want to achieve this year. I don’t necessarily get to tick all the boxes but the important thing is to have chances to try. There’s something satisfactory about reading down a list and being pleasantly surprised by the efforts you have put into completing it. 2014 was a bit of a meh year for me. Chaotic at times. I was constantly behind on my blogging thanks…

These brownies have changed the way I feel about brownies
Happy new year, everyone! How fast did 2014 zoom past?! I actually feel a bit like I accomplished nothing the past year because of the way I constantly lost track of time. I have a lot of high hopes for this year though, mostly in the way of personal productivity and improvement. And not to get all superstitious on you or anything, but they say the way you start the year is the mood you will set for the rest of it. And if any of that is true then I’m starting this year with a bang. I’ve said before that I’m not exactly the biggest brownie fiend, but I…

I love lemony things, that’s a fact
Today I feel like doing something different with my post. Since I’ve never done this before, I thought it would be fun to share some things about myself. Nothing too personal, you know? Just a bunch of trivia-like tidbits about me. So, here goes 10 random facts about moi: 10. I am one in the gazillion people who love making lists of just about anything. I always have a notebook and a pen in my bag. 9. I have pretty decent drawing skills, if I do say so myself. In fact it is the first “talent” I discovered when I was a kid, but I didn’t get to nurture it…

In search of happy inducers at the moment
It’s been a while since I’ve felt as stressed as I have been in the last few days. I wish I could just chill out and detach myself from work like most normal people do, but one of my greatest flaws has always been being too absorbed in all the things I do. Regardless of whether I like it or not, I always feel that if I’m already spending my time doing something I might as well do it well. Even in the things I am not so enthusiastic about, some of my passion floods over. On the opposite end, when I am actually enthusiastic about something and it fails,…

{Christmas Countdown 2013} A classic chocolate truffle for the holidays
Remember when I posted about the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles and said I have another version up my sleeves? This version is actually sort of the more no-nonsense classic version of the truffle made with the usual chocolate, cream, and butter combination. The sort chocolate lovers can really sink their teeth into. If you’re looking for something different and a little more indulgent to give your chocoholic friends while still staying true to that lovely deep cacao flavour they so love, then give these a try! To cut through all that smooth bittersweet chocolate glory is a crunchy surprise inside in the form of pistachios. It adds a nice…

Some much needed zen and ice cream
I think I’m beginning to fall hard for matcha. I went on a holiday to Hong Kong recently and I managed to get a taste of various matcha-flavoured food throughout. With the Matcha Espressos and Matcha Panna Cottas I enjoyed, it’s safe to say that Hong Kong has discovered the magic of this wonderful green substance. I’m waiting for that to happen in Manila. Despite matcha being slightly more popular in Hong Kong, I still unfortunately was not able to get hold of pure matcha powder in any of the mainstream grocery stores I checked. (Anybody who knows where in Hong Kong I can buy it, please give me a…
