Pizza is without a doubt one of the best inventions on the planet, but as far as comfort food goes, pie comes in a close second. So to whoever invented this Apple Pie Pizza at King Arthur Flour, hats off to you for fusing two awesome things in one!

It’s been a while since I made either a pizza or a pie, and this feels a bit like a cheat recipe since it’s like having both at once. The only difference is: instead of a savory pizza we’re enjoying a sweet dessert pizza.

And frankly, I’ve been missing apple pie a lot.

For the Apple Pie Pizza, the approach is more classic. We’re filling our pizza pie with cinnamon and apples but you can easily switch it up and fill this with something savory. I’m thinking a cheese and BBQ chicken with mushrooms type of filling.

Before I decided to make my own blog, I was an avid follower of several food blogs. Let’s call them my major inspirations for finally diving into food blogging myself. I was inspired by their wit and creativity when it came to food and how they presented it to the world. One of my favorites would have to be Joy Wilson of Joy The Baker. A normal visit to her site would consist of reading through her entries and cracking a smile, and then proceeding to bookmark a bunch of new recipes.

I mean, if you won’t take my word for it, just ask the people who have asked her to write her own cookbooks and the ones who have bought them.

If you like chocolate chip cookies as much as I do, then you probably have at some point in your life tried to make them. They’re like the basic of the most basic of all baking recipes, and even non-bakers have probably found success in making them. But I swear, it doesn’t get any easier than these Sweet & Salty Chocolate Chip Cookies.

There are so many versions of Choco Chip Cookies across the interwebs, and many of them will have you refrigerating the dough. And while that trick does quite a number on your cookies and turn them into amazing little things, there are recipes that are as good but don’t require too many “rituals”, if you will. These Sweet and Salty Chocolate Chip Cookies is one of them.

So I guess I’m breaking my self-made tradition of posting pastries made with liquor on the first week of a new year, just because somebody drank all the booze I was supposed to bake with and I just wasn’t in the mood to go out and buy more. So instead I thought I’d write about something I haven’t in a while: Banana Bread. In particular, a Double Chocolate Banana Bread.

Because that’s how you’re supposed to start your year– with a bang!

If a Banana Bread could reinvent itself to be more swanky, this would be one of those ways. Apart from a good amount of chocolate spread (or Nutella if you like) swirled into a delicious banana base, you’ve got bits of cacao nibs inside that give this bread a nice earthy crunch.

Cacao nibs, in case you haven’t heard about them before, are basically cacao beans that have been roasted and broken into small pieces after having their husks removed. They’re basically a pure unsweetened version of chocolate chips with a deep nutty taste. And just like with chocolate chips, you can snack on cacao nibs right from the bag.

Although I reckon those who like milk chocolates will find these lacking for their tastebuds. Dark chocolate lovers like myself may appreciate them more au naturel, but everybody will love cacao nibs in the form of a Double Chocolate Banana Bread. I promise you!
