2015 Blog Resolutions + Spiked Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

    17 January, 2015

We are past the midpoint of the first month of 2015 before I even realise I haven’t written any sort of blog resolution yet. Whoops. I always like to write these things down because it gives me kind of a vision for what I want to achieve this year. I don’t necessarily get to tick all the boxes but the important thing is to have chances to try. There’s something satisfactory about reading down a list and being pleasantly surprised by the efforts you have put into completing it. 2014 was a bit of a meh year for me. Chaotic at times. I was constantly behind on my blogging thanks…

Cookies that are the good kind of hot

    4 May, 2014

Why don’t we discuss what exactly is the wrong kind of hot? Well for one, the weather in Manila right now falls under that category. I just read in the news that the temperature will only go higher in the next few days, so I guess the city is only in the preheat stage. (I am not looking forward to getting baked!) I don’t recall the first time I ever ate chilli-flavoured chocolates so I can’t make a comparison of whether…

A sweet and sour surprise to show some sisterly love

    27 January, 2014

I suppose I’ll have to apologise for my extended absence after my birthday post, but this is going to be a long one to make up for that. It’s actually two different recipes rolled into one post, but recipes that complement each other in ways that the first bite will immediately make you understand. Let me put it into a simple equation: macarons + ice cream = ultimate indulgence. I’d have this over cake any day, any time. Now a little backstory for how this recipe actually came to be made: It was actually Jason’s request for our birthday. I told him I’d make him whatever he wanted as a…

Simple Chocolate Biscotti with Less Fat

    19 May, 2012

In the years that I have come to embrace a healthy lifestyle, I’ve become pickier with the things I eat: Nothing too oily, nothing too sugar-coated, nothing too salty; basically everything in moderation. Luckily I don’t have much problems resisting sweets and pastries since I haven’t much of a sweet tooth. I prefer breads, noodle soups, dumplings and sushi, but that is not to say I do not eat sweets entirely. Given that I am an avid baker, tasting my creations comes with the territory. I must admit though, sometimes I overreact about the things that I eat. Somehow knowing the ingredients that go into the things I bake often…
