A different cookie for Santa this year with this Cherry, Chocolate, Almond Rugelach Recipe [VIDEO]
I was looking through my Christmas posts from previous years and was happy to note that I’ve managed to make at least one recipe each holiday season that wowed in some way. In the year 2011, I made these delicious and pretty Stained Glass Cookies that I need to repeat some time soon. Then 2012 had two memorable recipes for me: my first ever Panettone and the fabulous Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes with my first ever Swiss Meringue Buttercream. In 2013, it was a stunner of a Buche de Noel cake that was much easier than I expected. And last year, it was the sky-high and very clever Christmas Tree Cupcakes. I get a…

It’s raining men— gingerbread men, that is!
Every Christmas season requires a cookie recipe, and it’s been years since I last made any gingerbread people. At some point I had been thinking about creating a whole gingerbread town because I wanted to learn how to put up those adorable gingerbread houses, but now I am reminded just why I put that on hold. Man did my back hurt after making this hahaha! It’s the curse of tall people forced to work on low worktables. Our chairs aren’t high enough for the counters so sitting down while working is difficult too. When I move into my dream house I will make damn sure my counters are a little…

The art of giving and receiving: A Christmas Gift Guide for the foodie in your life!
You know one of the things I noticed about growing up? It’s that there seems to be less gifts under the tree the more years pass by. I guess people have this idea that since you’re working already, you have the means to buy whatever it is you want yourself. With this in mind, maybe they believe that whatever they give you will probably not be up to par, so they choose to stop. But let’s get real for a second: who the heck doesn’t like receiving gifts? Whether it’s for Christmas or a birthday, it’s always nice to feel like you’re being remembered. That’s what gifts mean to me anyway– that the giver has…

Stained-Glass Cookies to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
I’ve heard or read somewhere that my country celebrates Christmas the longest here in Asia. As soon as the -ber months come around, the malls and restaurants begin blasting on the Christmas music. I’m sure it has more to do with how they want to put the customers in a spending mood, but nonetheless it makes everyone feel festive. The local celebration of Christmas begins during September and can last until February the next year. I don’t mind this at all. I love Christmas. I love it even more than my birthday, because I love how Christmas is celebrated by the world as a whole and not just privately with…

{Countdown to Christmas} My Peppermint Meringue Milestone
When I bought my copy of Martha Stewart’s Cookies back in September, I spent many nights browsing the book from cover to cover, trying to come up with a game-plan or schedule as to when I was going to do one recipe or the other. I began marking the cookie recipes into groups, one of which was Christmas cookies. One of the things I like most about this collection of cookies is that every cookie has a photo, thus making every recipe easy to fall in love with. But there’s this one cookie that caught my attention entirely, the Peppermint Meringue Sandwich Cookies. It had Christmas written all over it,…
